  • Camp Calvin Facilities

The two main lodges and 306 acres of forests, meadows, and marshlands provide an excellent setting.

    James Lodge
James Lodge, the newest self-contained facility, is located on the east side of camp. It consists of a community room with fireplace and comfortable seating, two conference rooms, a dining hall with fireplace, and attached sleeping accommodations. This houses the Pioneer campers (4th thru 6th grades).

  • Overnight accommodations for 96 campers including 8 dorms and 3 private suites.
  • 4 dorms are located in the exposed lower level and 4 on the ground level; each floor has two bathrooms with showers.
  • Every dorm room has 6 bunk beds and sleeps a total of 12 campers, with an attached room with 1 bunk bed for 2 counselors.
  • The private suites are located on the upper level each with a private bathroom and 2 single beds accommodating 2 adult leaders.
  • A variety of home cooked meals are provided for the campers.
  • Friendship Lodge
Friendship Lodge, located on the west side of camp, is unique in that the sleeping areas are separate cabins, each with its own fireplace. Friendship Lodge contains a community room/dining hall with fireplace, classroom, apartment with 2 bunk beds that sleeps 4 adults with private bathroom, and all restroom/shower facilities for the cabins. The Badger campers (7 th thru 9 th grades) are on this side of camp.

  • Overnight accommodations for up to 160 campers including 10 cabins and an apartment.
  • Each cabin has 8 bunk beds for 16 campers plus an attached room with two single beds for counselors. Please note that the cabins do not have bathrooms, but are located close to the lodge by lit paths.
  • The dining hall can accommodate all the campers who sleep on that side of camp.
  • A variety of home cooked meals are provided for the campers
  • Monday Arrival Procedures

  • Camper registration is on Monday from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. There will be staff on hand to greet you, help you find the registration area, and show you where your cabin is.

  • Follow our staff’s directions on where to park.

  • Park your car - PLEASE DO NOT UNLOAD YOUR LUGGAGE YET! If a parent is just dropping off their camper, they must still park first before unloading the camper’s luggage.

  • Before proceeding to the Registration Area, each camper should have the following:

  • Swimsuit and towel – Campers should have their swimsuit on when they come to camp.
Medications – Reminder: All prescription medications must be in properly labeled bottles exactly as they are to be administered.
Canteen money – Maximum of $15.00.
Offering money – Offering is designated for Watoto Children's Ministry.

Note: Parents of Pioneers (4th – 6th graders) will be asked to transport their camper’s luggage to James Lodge while the camper continues on with registration. (Directions to James Lodge will be handed out by the staff.) Be sure to leave the Pioneer’s towel behind with the Pioneer, since each camper will be taking a swim test after registering before heading to their assigned cabin. Also, be sure that money for the Special Offering and for Canteen are left with the Pioneer to be collected at registration. Finally, the Pioneer camper should have all prescription medications with them to give to the Camp Nurse.

  • Proceed to the Registration Area where you should check in to receive your cabin assignment and where money will be collected for the Special Offering and for Canteen. Each camper will be assigned a number for Canteen. Both the cabin assignment and the canteen number will be written on a slip of paper (labeled “What do I do next?”) that the camper will take with them from station to station.

  • After a camper receives a cabin assignment and canteen number, each camper will proceed to Friendship Lodge where the Nurse’s Station is located. (Badgers (7th – 9th graders) should bring their own luggage to their cabin before proceeding to Friendship Lodge.) Each camper will receive a check up by the Camp Nurse. The Camp Nurse will then sign the slip of paper (labeled “What do I do next?”) that the camper received at registration. Be sure to bring along any prescription medication(s). (The Camp Nurse should already have all health forms in their possession, since all health forms should have been sent in along with the camper’s registration form and fee.)

  • Each camper will then proceed to the swimming pool for a swim test. After the swim test, each camper will receive a colored band on their wrist that will indicate their swimming privileges for the week of camp (eg. allowed/restricted in deep end of pool). This band must stay on the camper’s wrist during the entire week of camp if the camper would like to swim in the pool. Loss of band will require the camper to take another swim test.

  • At this point, the camper has completed the registration process. The camper should still have the slip of paper (labeled “What do I do next?”). All campers should then proceed to their assigned cabin. (Parents may accompany their campers to their cabins to see where the campers will be living for the next week. For Pioneer parents, the walk to the Pioneer cabins is very nice but long, so you may want to drop off their luggage first by car before coming back to the Registration Area to walk with your camper to their cabin.)

  • Once the camper has settled in to their cabin, the camper is free to explore the camp grounds. (Parents are also welcome to do this with their camper.)

  • Saturday Departure Procedures

Campers will be required to have their cabin cleaned and inspected by the camp director before they can leave. Campers can then be picked up on Saturday morning from 9:15 – 10:00 AM when they will be ready to leave Camp Calvin until next summer.

    Medical Care

Registered nurses are in residence and on duty the entire week of camp. There is no charge for minor medical attention at the Health Lodge. In case of accident or illness requiring x-rays, medication, prescription drugs, services of a hospital, physician, dentist, ambulance, or related services, the charges will be made to the parents or to the parent’s insurance carrier. Parents will be notified in the event medical treatment is necessary.

    Medication
To ensure the best possible experience at camp, campers must maintain their normal medication patterns while at camp. All prescription medications, including sprays and inhalers, must be in either a prescription bottle/box, labeled exactly as it is to be given, or accompanied by a written physician prescription form.

All prescription medications must be turned in to the nurses at the time of registration and will be dispensed by medical personnel according to prescription directions. Please do not bring over-the-counter medications, as they will be dispensed, as needed, by medical personnel from our medical supplies.

    Lost & Found

Campers must take good care of their personal things, especially on Saturday morning during check out. Items that end up in our Lost & Found will remain in the possession of the camp director for later pick-up. If you leave items at camp and would like to pick them up, please fill out the form on the contact us page and someone will email you back with more details..

    Discipline Problems

In the best interest of all concerned and to promote a good camp community experience, any camper whose behavior is, in the judgment of the camp leadership, disruptive or unruly, will have their parents notified and could be sent home.

The use of tobacco, alcoholic beverages, or non-prescriptive/illegal drugs is prohibited and will be treated as a serious offense. Appropriate disciplinary action will be taken.

    Spending Money

Camp Calvin fees cover all programming, 24-hour counselors, waterfront activities, sports, and group initiatives. Your camper will want to have spending money for canteen and the special offering. Money for both the special offering and canteen will be collected on Monday at registration. The camper will be asked to designate how much money should go to each. A maximum of $15 may be designated for canteen. At the end of the week, all unused canteen money will go towards the special offering.

    Special Offering
Campers have an opportunity to contribute towards a Christian organization. The offering this year is designated for Bethany Christian Services, which is an organization that counsels pregnant women and also assists parents who desire to adopt a child.

    Canteen
Campers have an opportunity twice a day to get soda or candy from canteen as well as postcards and stamps. The price of these items will be deducted from the camper’s account, which is the money collected at the beginning of the week at registration. Once the camper’s account has reached a zero balance, the camper will not be allowed to receive any more items from canteen.
